Acri-Bond 125 Acrylic Adhesive Thick

Price range: $25.30 through $236.50

ACRI-BOND 125 is a clear, fast set, thickened acrylic adhesive suitable for bonding Acrylic to itself as well as other listed plastics. Fabricators choose ACRI-BOND 125 when they want a fast fixture time, a thickened viscosity adhesive for better control and virtually bubble free joining. Due to the adhesive being thickened it allows for some gap filling capacity, approximately 30% dry acrylic solid residue is left when the adhesive fully cures.

Product Overview

ACRI-BOND 125 is a faster set, thickened, clear solvent cement ideal for joining cast and extruded acrylic, polycarbonate, ABS and more. ACRI-BOND 125 is a solvent cement meaning it works by chemically softening and fusing the surfaces of compatible plastics. This creates a true molecular bond where the two parts effectively become one solid piece after curing. This provides a strong bond that other Acrylic Glues cannot achieve.

ACRI-BOND 125 is widely used to do butt joints, t joint, mitre joints and face to face joints. Due to being thickened it allows for some gap filling and easier to apply compared to other conventional solvent adhesives. As it is a faster setting solvent adhesive it is perfect for use in large production lines and for fabricating with Acrylic.

ACRI-BOND 110 or 125?

ACRI-BOND 110 is slower setting and a less aggressive solvent compared to ACRI-BOND 125 which dries faster and penetrates acrylic deeper providing a stronger bond. However, ACRI-BOND 110 is more forgiving to use as it is slower setting.

If you are finding bubbles appearing when using ACRI-BOND 110, try using ACRI-BOND 125 as it is specially formulated to reduce this due to it curing much more rapidly. For true bubble free joining for indoor use consider our ACRI-BOND UV Adhesives.

Applications and Uses

ACRI-BOND 125 has been designed for bonding Acrylic to Acrylic. It also shows good results when bonding Polycarbonate, HIPS and ABS to themselves. If your substrate is not listed in our material suitability tab due to it being mixed or other plastic material combinations, contact us or test on a small job before using in your production.

It can be used in a range of plastic fabrication jobs. For example: Sign Fabrication, Display Boxes, Plastic Structures, Model Making and Point of Sale Displays.

Tools and Accessories

For professional use of ACRI-BOND 125 it is important to use the right tooling. We recommend using our 65mL Applicator Bottle with either a 0.8mm (green base) or 1.4mm (dark green base) precision dispensing tip. This will allow for maximum control of the adhesive when applicating. ACRI-BOND 125 can also be applied through the 100mL Clear Applicator Bottle.

To help dispense the adhesive into the applicator bottles we stock small clear funnels and clear 100mL beakers.

Instructions for use

Parts to be joined should fit without forcing and be clean, it is recommended to use Acri-Bond Cleaner prior to applying any product to remove any dust and dirt. Apply adhesive with suitable applicator and assemble while parts are still wet. Press parts together in firm contact. ACRI-BOND 125 forms an initial bond in about 4 minutes. Strength develops rapidly reaching full strength in 24 to 48 hours leaving about 30% dry residue. For a tutorial how to use please refer to our YouTube Chanel.

Shelf Life and Storage

ACRI-BOND 125 has a 2+ Year Shelf Life when stored correctly.

Store in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight to extend the shelf life of this product. Keep the open container tightly closed do not leave open as the adhesive will evaporate.

Mixing Charts

ACRI-BOND 105 mixed with ACRI-BOND 125

Adding “body” to water-thin solvent for smoother flow and improves “gap filling”. When dry it will leave 7%, 15% or 20% clear acrylic resin.

ACRI-BOND 110 mixed with ACRI-BOND 125

Mixing in 50-50 ratio will get you similar performance to Weldon 16. This mixture can be then thinned with AB 105. When dry it will leave about 20-30% clear acrylic resin.
